The session is an overview of the roles and responsibilities for a PI along with the respective compliance requirements. This includes the entire award cycle from proposal to closeout, and other key areas such as effort reporting, cost transfers, cost sharing, and subawards. Mandatory for all PIs not yet attending.

Begin working on your annual review by learning how to upload and enter files into the UM FAS System. Come with a colleague. Bring your questions and a flash drive loaded with key files (current c.v., lists of committees, activities, scholarly work).

UMSL’s fourth Civic Engagement Day includes (1) an early afternoon panel followed by roundtable discussions, (2) a poster fair illustrating how faculty, staff, and students are engaged civically and politically, and (3) an evening program with a presentation by the Honorable Dick Gephardt. Faculty are encouraged to include these events as class activities and assignments. More details will be announced when plans are finalized. Sponsored by the Provost’s Civic Engagement Steering Committee.
Researching Your Teaching Effectiveness

An important aspect of preparing for promotion and tenure, annual review, and professional development is knowing and following the methodology involved in researching your teaching and validating your findings. Bring your questions, problems, or ideas for teaching innovation and learn about using methods such as triangulation, field notes, participant observation, and recursive analysis to demonstrate your teaching effectiveness.
