New Faculty Teaching Scholars
Helping to Develop a "Culture of Teaching".
New Faculty Teaching Scholars (NFTS) is an exciting UM system-wide program that was
created in the spring of 2001. NFTS is for tenure-track faculty in their
2nd, 3rd and 4th years of employment. The program
is specially designed to support new faculty as they adjust to their academic
responsibilities and environments. The year-long program is an intra-
and inter-campus effort that aims to build collegiality and to introduce
innovative teaching methods. NFTS is dedicated to cultivating the success
of new faculty and, through workshops, conferences, and retreats, will
provide assistance and support to faculty accepted into the program.
