Selecting a Major
|
We assist UM-St. Louis students who have
not yet chosen a major, who are questioning
their choice of major, and who have
chosen a major (undergraduate and
graduate) but are unsure of how to apply
their skills in the world of work. There is no fee to meet with professional staff or to receive research resources. There is a fee for some assessments. The process of choosing a major /career field is different for each individual. On average, students meet one to two times or more to review assessment results and to consider major or career options. Follow up appointments are always available. Ponder this question: How long might you consider other significant life decisions such as buying a car or home or choosing a life partner? We understand the desire to come to a conclusion, but we encourage you to take the time and reflection that this important decision deserves. Students who have not chosen a major should contact the Center for Student Success, 225 MSC, 314-516-5300. Students who have declared a major but need clarification on their career direction, should contact Career Services, 278 MSC, 314-516-5111. | “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the
