Safety Planning In Abusive Relationships

Those who are suffering through an abusive relationship often feel alone.  It can be hard to know where to turn and whom to talk to about your situation.  In many cases, it can even be hard to admit that your partner (for whom you may still have strong feelings of attachment) is being abusive.

It's important to know that there are many resources available for you--here at UMSL and out in the community.  You are not alone!  Counseling Services staff are available to meet with you, listen to your concerns, and discuss your options.  Feel free to call or stop by our office to schedule an appointment.  In an emergency, we can usually arrange for a counselor to meet with you right away during office hours.  For situations where safety may be an immediate risk, we recommend that you call UMSL University Police at 314-516-5155.
