Gregg
Ready played four years for UMSL baseball, where the team averaged
27 wins per year during his career and never had a losing season.
The team advanced to the NCAA Regionals in each of his four years
as a player, including a trip to the NCAA College World Series in
1977. Ready was an honorable mention All-American selection in 1977
and followed that up with first team All-American honors in 1978.
He was also a two-time, first team all-region selection in both
1977 and 1978. |
Ready
still holds the UMSL single game records for most hits in a game with
five, and most stolen bases in a game with five. He finished his career
with a batting average of .405, third highest in UMSL history. In addition,
he is the school's all-time career hits leader with 228 hits and is
the school’s all-time leader in stolen bases with 122 career steals.
