Skip
played three seasons at UMSL, forgoing his senior season after
being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He was
a two-time All-American, earning honorable mention honors during
the 1978 and 1979 seasons. Skip also earned Second Team North
Central All-Region honors those seasons. As a freshman on the
1977 team, he helped UMSL to the program’s third NCAA Division
II College World Series. UMSL went 80-46 in Skip’s three
seasons, advancing to the NCAA Regionals in each of the three
years. He played in 125 career games, recorded 133 hits, 26 doubles,
10 triples, three home runs, scored 100 runs, tallied 86 RBIs
and had a career batting average of .320. He ranks fifth all-time
in UMSL history with 68 stolen bases and is 10th all-time in triples
(10). Skip also tied a school record for hits in a game with five
against McKendree on April 5, 1979.
