UMSL Falls Twice on the Weekend

The UMSL volleyball team suffered two road conference losses over the weekend, falling at SIU Edwardsville and at Southern Indiana. UM-St. Louis dropped by matches by a 3-0 score.

Against 20th-ranked SIU Edwardsville on Friday night, UMSL played a tough first game, falling 30-24. Hitting errors hurt UM-St. Louis in the second and third games, losing those two games 30-10, 30-13. UMSL committed 12 hitting errors in game two and had eight in game three. Lisa Brinker had 24 assists of the team's 26 kills, and Joslyn Brown led the team with 23 digs. UMSL then fell 3-0 (30-13, 31-29, 30-18) at Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon. After losing the first game, UMSL battled strong in the second game, forcing it to 31-29, but lost the third game 30-18. Erin Denton had eight kills to lead UMSL, while Lisa Brinker had 30 assists and Joslyn Brown had 11 digs.

UMSL is now 5-10 on the season and is 2-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Confernece. UM-St. Louis will finish up their six-match road trip on Tuesday when they travel to play at Drury at 7 pm.
