Trame Named All-Tournament Selection as UMSL Wins Twice

St. Louis, Mo. – The UMSL volleyball team finished their play at the Quincy Nike/McDonald's Tournament, going 2-1 with wins over Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern as UMSL handed the Lions their first loss of the season. Christy Trame was named to the All-Tournament team, matching the team best with 35 kills over the three-matches and had 18 total blocks and had a .124 hitting percentage.

On Saturday, UMSL gave Missouri Southern their first loss of the year and avenged an earlier loss to the Lions last weekend. UMSL dropped the first game 30-25, but came back strong to win the next three, 30-27, 30-21, 30-28 to lock up the win. Christy Trame and Claudia Medina each had 15 kills in the win and Sarah Eisnaugle added 14 kills. Lisa Brinker had 52 assists and Trame added six blocks while Medina recorded four service aces. Joslyn Brown had 25 digs and Erin Denton added 24 digs and 12 kills. UMSL then lost a four-game match to Northwood, falling 21-30, 30-20, 32-30, 30-20. Erin Denton had 11 kills and Christy Trame had 10 kills and nine blocks. Claudia Medina added five service aces in the loss as well.

In Friday's game against Southwest Baptist, UMSL had an evenly dispersed attack as three players all had double digit kills in the match. Erin Denton led the way with 12 kills while Claudia Medina had 11 and Christy Trame had 10 kills. Medina added three blocks and six service aces along with a team-best 16 digs in the match. Trame also had three blocks and Denton recorded 15 digs. Lisa Brinker had 39 assists for UM-St. Louis in the win and Joslyn Brown added 11 digs. UMSL won in three straight games, winning 30-22, 30-18, 30-27.

For the weekend, UMSL had three players lead the attack as Erin Denton, Claudia Medina and Christy Trame each recorded 35 kills in the three matches. Medina added 15 total service aces while Trame added a team best 18 blocks. Joslyn Brown had 60 digs (5.45 per game) and Denton added 57 digs (5.18 per game) while Lisa Brinker had 127 assists (11.55 oer game).

UMSL is now 3-4 on the season and will open up their home and conference schedule this weekend when they host Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday night at 7 pm, and then host Lewis on Saturday at 5 pm. The UMSL home games this year will take place at McCluer South High School.
