| UMSL Falls to 19th-Ranked Rockhurst in First Round of GLVC Tournament Edwardsville, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team gave second seeded and 19th-ranked Rockhurst a tough match in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, but fell 3-0 (30-25, 33-31, 30-27) to the Hawks. Both teams fought to establish control in the first game, with four ties in the early going, the last coming at 7-7 after a kill by Lauren Hampton. Rockhurst then scored four of the next five points but UMSL stayed close, getting within two points at 14-12 after an ace from Christy Trame, but the Hawks responded with an 8-2 run to lead and went on to win the first game 30-25. The second game saw four ties again in the early going, the last at 9-9. UM-St. Louis broke that tie with three straight points, all kills from Christy Trame, and pushed that lead out to as many as eight points at 20-12 and again at 22-14. With UMSL leading 25-18, Rockhurst rallied back and scored eight of the next ten points and cut the UM-St. Louis lead to one point at 27-26. UMSL held the lead until the Hawks tied it at 29-29. Another kill by Trame made it 31-31 before Rockhurst got the next two points to win 33-31. In the third game, Rockhurst led the entire way, but UMSL stayed close throughout the game. The Hawks got up by as many as six points at 19-13, but UMSL fought back and cut it to a two-point deficit at 24-22 after a kill by Sarah Eisnaugle, and after a block by Eisnaugle and Lauren Hampton, UM-St. Louis trailed by just one point at 25-24. Rockhurst responded by scoring the next two points and closed out the match with a 30-27 win. UMSL
was led by Christy Trame with 15 kills and five blocks and Lauren Hampton
added 14 kills. Lisa Brinker had 43 assists in Joslyn Brown had a team
high 22 digs. Erin Denton had eight kills and 15 digs and Claudia Medina
had eight kills and 12 digs. With the loss, UM-St. Louis finished the
season with an overall record of 11-18.
