UMSL Stumbles in Weekend Road Games

Baumstark Matches Career Best with 12 Kills

The Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team suffered a couple of losses in weekend conference matches, losing at Saint Joseph's and at Indianapolis.

At Saint Joseph's, UMSL fell in three straight games, 30-22, 30-18, 30-26. Heather Nichols (Black Earth, Wis./Edgewood) had eight kills and 13 digs and Claudia Medina (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) added seven kills. The Riverwomen started off slow at Indianapolis, but came back strong in the last two games, falling 30-19, 30-28, 30-20 to the Greyhounds. Chelsea Baumstark (Hermann, Mo./Hermann) matched her career best with 12 kills in the game and added four blocks. Claudia Medina had 10 kills and Joslyn Brown (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) had a team best 22 digs. Lisa Brinker (Washington, Mo./Washington) had 37 assists in the match as well.

UMSL is now 1-12 on the season and 1-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Riverwomen will be at home next weekend to host Kentucky Wesleyan in a conference match on Friday, September 30 at 1 pm. UMSL will then host a pair of matches on Saturday, October 1, facing Alabama-Huntsville at 10 am and Central Missouri State at 3 pm.
