Volleyball Comes up Short Against Top Ranked Teams UMSL Falls to #1 and #8 Ranked Teams at Tournament Warrensburg, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team faced some of the best teams in the country at the Central Missouri State Tournament, but came up on the short end in losing the four matches played over the weekend. UMSL had a close match to open up the weekend, falling 3-1 to Missouri Southern. Claudia Medina (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) had 13 kills and five service aces while Heather Nichols (Black Earth, Wis./Edgewood) had 16 kills and 13 digs. The Riverwomen then faced the top-ranked team in the countray, falling 3-0 to Truman State. Against Pittsburg State, UMSL got 15 kills and 12 digs from Medina whole Lisa Brinker (Washington, Mo./Washington) had 31 assists and 10 digs. Sarah Eisnaugle (Newark, Ill./Newark) added five total blocks and Nichols added 16 digs. UMSL closed out the weekend by facing then 8th-ranked Central Missouri State and lost that match 3-0. UMSL
will head into conference play this weekend when they travel to play
at Lewis on Friday, September 16, and at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday,
September 17.
