UMSL's Wins Season Opener Coach Lauer Records First Career Win Quincy, Ill. – The Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team wasted no time getting the first career win for new head coach Josh Lauer, recording a 3-0 (30-16, 30-26, 30-26) win against Arkansas Tech at the Quincy-McDonalds Invitational. Nikki Pagels (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary Grove) led the Riverwomen with 12 kills and four blocks and Heather Nichols (Black Earth, Wis./Edgewood) had 11 kills and nine digs. Ashley Richmond (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had 31 assists and nine digs in the winning effort. The win was the first of the season and the first career win for new head coach Josh Lauer. The Riverwomen took control of the match quickly in the first game, winning 30-16. UMSL then controlled the rest of the match, winning the second game 30-26 with a team hitting percentage of .205 in that game. The Riverwomen then took the final game 30-26 for the 3-0 win. UMSL
is 1-0 on the new season and will continue play at the Quincy-McDonalds
Invitational on Saturday afternoon with matches against Saginaw Valley
State and Armstrong Atlantic State.
