UMSL Loses Five-Game Match at Wisconsin-Parkside

Riverwomen Fall 3-2 at Wisconsin-Parkside

Kenosha, Wis. – UMSL lost a tough five-game match at Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday evening, falling 3-2 (29-31, 30-16, 25-30, 30-19, 15-6). Claudia Medina (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) led the way with 17 kills and 14 digs on the night and Heather Nichols (Black Earth, Wis./Edgewood) added 12 kills and 10 digs. Daria Sak (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) had 22 digs for the Riverwomen in the loss.

UMSL won a close first game, extending the match by a point to win by two, defeating the Rangers 31-29 in the opening game. Wisconsin-Parkside then cruised in the second game winning 30-16, before the Riverwomen came back and won another close one 30-25 to win in game three and take a 2-1 advantage. The Rangers came out strong in the fourth game and won 30-19, and then took the final game 15-6 for the win.

UMSL falls to 9-14 on the season and 4-9 in the GLVC. The Riverwomen will be in action again at Lewis on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
