Southern Indiana Spoils UMSL Home Opener Riverwomen Fall to Screaming Eagles 3-1 St. Louis, Mo. – The Southern Indiana volleyball team spoiled UMSL’s home opener, defeating the Riverwomen 3-1 (30-15, 27-30, 30-16, 30-15) on Friday evening. Southern Indiana jumped out to a quick lead in the first game and never looked back, winning 30-14. UMSL then fought back in the second game, winning 30-27 behind four kills apiece from Gillian Falknor (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and Melissa Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNichols). Southern Indiana then attacked strong the last two games, winning 30-16 and 30-15 to take the 3-1 victory. Gillian Falknor led UMSL with 12 kills on the day and Ashley Richmond (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had 17 assists. Kathryn Freeman (Goodyear, Ariz./Centennial) led the way at the net with six total blocks on the night for the Riverwomen. UMSL
falls to 3-5 on the season with the loss and will be in action again
at home on Saturday when they host Kentucky Wesleyan at 1 pm.
