UMSL's Falknor Receives Academic All-District Award Sophomore Volleyball Player Named Second Team Academic All-District St. Louis, Mo. – University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore Gillian Falknor (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Groves) was named a 2003 CoSIDA College Division Academic All-District VII Volleyball Second Team selection for her efforts both on and off the court this year. Falknor was a second team academic all-district selection and is the first UMSL volleyball player to earn national academic honors, and the first UMSL student-athlete to receive a national academic honor since the 1996-97 school year. Falknor is majoring in education and history, and carries a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She led UMSL this year in kills with 254 (2.85 per game) and was second on the team in digs with 324 (3.64 per game). Falknor was second on the team with 27 service aces and had 18 total blocks on the season. She recorded a season best 21 kills against Indianapolis and had 13 matches with double digit kills in a match. She recorded double digits in digs in 17 matches, including a season best 27 in one match. The
UMSL volleyball team finished the year with an 8-15 record after advancing
to the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
