UMSL Falls in Five to Quincy

Riverwomen Win First Two Games, Drop Final Three

Quincy, Ill. – The UMSL volleyball team started off hot, winning the first two games, before dropping the final three games at Quincy and losing to the Hawks 3-2.

The first game went back and forth until UMSL closed it out with a 31-29 win, and the Riverwomen then took the second game 30-25 to take a commanding two games to none lead. Quincy rallied back quickly in the third game, winning 30-19 and grabbing momentum. The Lady Hawks then carried that momentum into the fourth game and squeaked out a 30-25 win to send it to a fifth game. The fifth game was all Quincy, as the Lady Hawks jumped out to a 9-0 lead and went on to win the game 15-2 and take the match 3-2.

Melissa Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led UMSL with 12 kills and five total blocks and Karen Creech (Moscow Mills, Mo./Winfield) added ten kills. Ashley Richmod (Milford, Ohio/Milford) led the Riverwomen with 25 assists.

UMSL falls to 4-7 on the season and 1-3 in the GLVC. The Riverwomen be in action again at home on Tuesday night against Drury University at 7 pm.
