| NKU Beats UMSL Volleyball Riverwomen Fall in Three Games ST. LOUIS, MO – The UMSL volleyball team fell 3-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-28) to Northern Kentucky on Friday evening in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match. Northern Kentucky used a late rally in each game to take the match. In the first game, the two teams were tied at 21-21 before the Norse pushed out to a 25-22 lead. Leading 26-25, NKU then scored three straight points and closed it out for a 30-26 win. The second game saw NKU jump out to an eight-point lead at 15-7 early in the game. That lead would be pushed to ten points at 21-11 before UMSL started a come back. The Riverwomen closed it to four points at 23-19. Trailing 29-25, UMSL then scored twice to close it to two points before the Norse closed it out with a 30-27 win. The third game saw UMSL take the lead, up by as many as four points late in the game at 25-21. Leading 27-24, UMSL then gave up four straight points to trail 28-27 as NKU closed out the match with a 30-28 win. Liz Blair (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) led UMSL with 11 kills and Kathryn Freeman (Goodyear, Ariz./Centennial) had 10 kills and three blocks. Ashley Richmond (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had 31 assists for UMSL. NKU was led by Nicole Salisbury with 14 kills and Cammi Welter with 13 kills. UMSL
is now 9-6 on the season and 0-2 in the GLVC. The Riverwomen will look
for their first GLVC win on Saturday afternoon when they host Bellarmine
at 1 pm.
