| UMSL Smashes Kentucky Wesleyan Riverwomen Cruise to 3-0 Win ST. LOUIS, MO – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 GLVC win over Kentucky Wesleyan, winning by scores of 30-19, 30-12, 30-20. In the first game, the Riverwomen broke an 11-11 tie with a 9-1 run that was capped off by a kill from Melissa Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) and gave UMSL a 20-12 lead at that point. The Riverwomen then closed out the game with another kill by Frost, her fourth in that first game, for a 30-19 win. The second game was much of the same as UMSL used a 6-0 run early to gain the advantage, then got a huge lead with a 10-1 run for a 20-6 lead. The 10-1 run was sparked by three service aces from Ashley Richmond (Milford, Ohio/Milford) in a span of four serves. The third game went back and forth most of the way before UMSL broke out with a run at the end. The game was tied nine times, the last at 16-16 before Melissa Frost got a kill that started a 9-1 run by the Riverwomen. Stacey Pearl (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge) then closed out the match with a kill for the 30-20 win in game three. Nikki Pagels (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary Grove) led UMSL with 15 kills, including seven in the third game, and Kathryn Freeman (Goodyear, Ariz./Centennial) with 12 kills. Melissa Frost had a big day with 11 kills and no errors on 18 attempts and added four blocks. Stacey Pearl led UMSL with 46 assists and five service aces. UMSL improves to 12-10 on the season and 3-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Riverwomen will close out their home schedule next weekend when they host Lewis on Friday, November 1 at 7 pm and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday, November 1 at 1 pm.
