Volleyball Splits Two Matches

Riverwomen Beat Central Arkansas

Conway, Ark. – The UMSL volleyball team finished their weekend action at Central Arkansas by splitting two matches on Saturday. The Riverwomen lost to Arkansas Tech 3-1 (28-30, 32-30, 30-25, 30-16) and closed out the weekend by beating Central Arkansas 3-0 (30-27, 30-23, 30-25).

Against Arkansas Tech, Gillian Falknor (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) led the team with 17 kills and 14 digs and Ashley Richmond (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had 33 assists. After winning the first set, the Riverwomen lost the second set 32-30 and could not recover, dropping the next two for the 3-1 loss.

The weekend ended on a good note with a 3-0 win over Central Arkansas. Gillian Falknor again led UMSL with 14 kills and 22 digs in the match. Nikki Pagels (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary Grove) added seven kills and seven blocks in the match for the Riverwomen.

Earlier in the weekend, UMSL beat Mississippi-Women and lost to Harding. UMSL is now 9-3 on the season and will begin conference play this weekend when they host Quincy on Friday, September 20 at 7 pm.
