Volleyball Sweeps Weekend Matches

Riverwomen Improve to 7-1 on the Season

Memphis, Tenn. – The UMSL volleyball team continued their hot start, sweeping all four matches over the weekend at the Christian Brothers University Tournament.

The Riverwomen lost just two games in the four matches. UMSL beat Mississippi Unviersity for Women 3-0 (30-25, 30-25, 31-29), beat host Christian Brothers 3-1 (30-26, 20-30, 30-25, 30-22), beat West Alabama 3-0 (30-27, 30-20, 32-30), and beat West Georgia 3-1 (23-30, 30-24, 30-23, 30-25).

Nikki Pagels (Fox River Grove, Ill./Cary Grove) led the Riverwomen, recording 50 kills, 17 digs, 15 total blocks and nine service aces in the four matches. As a team, UMSL had 47 service aces in the four matches. Freshman Gillian Falknor (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) had 37 kills in the four matches and Ashley Richmond (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had 100 assists on the weekend as well.

UMSL is now 7-1 on the season and will be in action again this weekend at the Central Arkansas Tournament.
