UMSL Volleyball Starts Season at 3-1

Riverwomen Win Three of Four at Tournament

Huntsville, Ala. – The UMSL volleyball team started off their season in impressive fashion, winning three of four matches at the Alabama-Huntsville Tournament over Labor Day Weekend.

The Riverwomen started off with a 3-0 win over Christian Brothers College, winning by scores of 30-20, 30-20, 30-20. UMSL then stumbled against Carson Newman and suffered their first loss of the season 3-2. All five games of the match were close as Carson Newman won 29-31, 36-34, 32-30, 26-30, 15-11. On the second day of the tournament, UMSL beat the host Alabama-Huntsville in three-straight games, winning 30-26, 30-24, 30-17 for a 3-0 win. The last match of the tournament was another five-game match, as UMSL beat Lincoln Memorial 3-2. The Riverwomen dropped two of the first three games before rebounding to win 20-30, 30-27, 21-30, 30-27, 15-13.

UMSL is now 3-1 on the season and will be on the road again this weekend to play at the Christian Brothers Tournament.
