Lam Approaches Career Wins Record as UMSL Sweeps Weekend Conference Matches

UMSL's Francis Lam recorded his 50th career singles win against SIUE on Saturday, as the UMSL men's tennis team won their first two conference matches over the weekend. UMSL defeated Southern Indiana 5-1 on Friday and beat SIU Edwardsville 5-1 on Saturday.

Francis Lam recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win at two singles on Saturday against SIUE, giving him 50 career wins as a singles player and he is now 50-28 in singles matches for his career. Against SIUE, UMSL won all three doubles matches in close contests. Peter Hantack won a 6-3, 6-0 match at four singles and Lam recorded his 50th career victory with a win at two singles to secure the match.

On Friday, UMSL defeated Southern Indiana by a score of 5-1. UMSL got wins at one and three doubles, winning 8-2 at one doubles and 8-4 at three doubles. Andreas Dimke won a three-set match at one singles and Boris Simic won 6-0, 6-2 at three singles. The clinching point came at four singles where Peter Hantack dropped the first set, but came back to win the second and third sets for the 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 win and a 5-1 UMSL victory.
