UMSL Starts Season with a Win

The UMSL men's tennis team started the new season with a 7-0 win over visiting Maryville University on Thursday. Returning all-conference player Francis Lam got a 6-0, 6-1 victory at one singles and Peter Hantack got a 6-3, 7-5 win at two singles. Two newcomers to the team got wins at three and four singles as Andres Chemas notched a 6-1, 7-5 win at three singles and Boris Simic cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at four singles. Ryan Burgdorfer rounded out the singles wins with a 6-0, 6-0 win at five singles. Burgdorger and Hantack teams up for an 8-4 win at one doubles and Chemas and freshman David Conely paired up for an 8-1 win at two doubles.
