UMSL Wins Twice Over the Weekend

The UMSL men's tennis team won two matches over the past weekend, beating Maryville and Lewis, but lost their Sunday match against Northwest Missouri State.

UMSL won an easy 9-0 at Maryville on Friday, winning all three doubles matches and sweeping the six singles matches as well. The closest singles match was at one singles where Andreas Dimke won 7-5, 6-3.

On Saturday, UMSL played a non-conference match against Lewis University and won another 9-0 match with two default wins. The one doubles team of Francis Lam and Boris Simic won 8-4 and the two doubles team of Ryan Burgdorfer and John Harte won 8-0. Each of the five singles matches that were played were all two set winners, including a 6-0, 6-0 win at three singles by Boris Simic.

The lone loss on the weekend was a 7-2 defeat against Northwest Missouri State. UMSL dropped all three doubles matches, including a close 9-8 match at one doubles. The two points came at one and four singles. Andreas Dimke won 6-2, 7-5 (5) at one singles and Peter Hantack won 6-2, 3-6 (5) at four singles.

UMSL is now 4-1 on the year and will be in action again on Tuesday, March 20, when they host Washburn University.
