Dimke, Lam Earn All-Conference Honors; Dimke Named GLVC Freshman of the Year

St. Louis, Mo. – UMSL men’s tennis players Francis Lam and Andreas Dimke were both named Great Lakes Valley All-Conference selections for this season and Dimke was named GLVC Freshman of the Year.

Lam earns his third straight all-conference honor in the GLVC. He is just the second UMSL player to earn three All-GLVC honors during his career along with former UMSL player Matt Vaulkhard. This year, Lam went 18-8 in singles matches, including a 9-4 record at two singles and a 2-1 record in conference matches. In doubles matches, Lam finished with an overall record of 17-9 on the year and is regionally ranked with partner Boris Simic. Earlier this season, Lam recorded his 52nd career singles victory which set a new school record.

Dimke was named the GLVC Freshman of the Year and earned all-conference honors. He went 14-8 on the season in singles matches, playing at the one singles spot in the lineup. He went 9-5 at the one singles spot and went 5-3 in tournament action. In doubles play, he went 11-7 overall, including a 4-0 record in conference play when teamed with partner Andre Chemas. Dimke becomes the third UMSL men’s player in the last seven years to earn GLVC Freshman of the Year honors, joining Matt Vaulkhard (2001) and Mike Schaaf (2003).

The UMSL men’s team is currently 10-6 on the season and will play in the GLVC Tournament beginning Friday, April 20, in Springfield, Mo. UMSL will face Northern Kentucky in the first round at 11 am.
