UMSL Falls to Bears

Rivermen Give Washington First Doubles Loss this Year

The UMSL men's tennis team won the doubles point against Washington University, giving the Bears their first doubles point loss of the season, but lost the singles matches to fall 6-1 to Washington.

The match was played with seven total points available in the match, with the three doubles matches counting as one total team point. UMSL won two of the three doubles matches to take the point, getting wins at both one and two doubles. Francis Lam and Mike Schaaf paried up to win a close 9-8 (8-6) match at one doubles and Stephen Pobst and Ryan Burgdorger had an 8-6 win at two doubles. Washington then won the six singles matches for the 6-1 victory.

The Rivermen will be in action again Wednesday when they travel to play at Truman State before heading to the GLVC Tournament this weekend.
