UMSL Falls One Point Short at USI

Rivermen Fall 5-4 at Southern Indiana

The UMSL men's tennis team came up one point short against Southern Indiana, dropping a 5-4 match to the Screaming Eagles. USI swept all three doubles matches, with UMSL losing 8-5 at both one and two doubles, and then dropped a close 9-8 (8-6) match at three doubles in a tiebreaker. It was the first conference doubles loss of the season by the three doubles team of Pete Hantack and Jamie Rigby.

In the singles matches, UMSL got wins at both one and two singles as Francis Lam won 6-4, 6-4 at one singles and Stephen Pobst won 6-4, 6-2 at two singles. Pete Hantack picked up a three-set win at four singles, winning 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 and Rajan Saini had a 6-3, 6-2 win at six singles.

The Rivermen will bein action again on Saturday when they play at SIU Edwardsville at 9 am.
