UMSL Beats Cougars 7-2

Rivermen Beat SIU Edwardsville

The UMSL men's tennis team beat conference rival SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, winning 7-2 in the final regular season GLVC match.

UMSL won at both one and two doubles in a pair of close matches, winning 8-5 at one doubles and 9-7 at two doubles. The three doubles team lost a close match as well, falling 9-7.

In singles matches, Francis Lam won 6-4, 6-2 at one singles and Stephen Pobest won a three-set match at two doubles, winning 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. Mike Schaaf and Pete Hantack won easy matches at three and four singles respectively, with Schaaf winning 6-2, 6-2 and Hantack winning 6-4, 6-3. Rajan Saini won a three-set match at five singles with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory.

The Rivermen are now 6-10 on the season and 2-3 in the GLVC. UMSL will play at Washington-St. Louis on Monday and at Truman on Wednesday.
