Rivermen Get 9-0 Conference Win Over Quincy

The UMSL men's tennis team flew past the Quincy Hawks on Tuesday, winning 9-0 to record their first conference win of the season.

Each of the first three singles matches had identical 6-1, 6-1 scores as Francis Lam, Stephen Pobst and Mike Schaaf won easliy in those matches. Pete Hantack won 6-1, 6-3 at four singles and Rajan Saini won 6-2, 6-2 at six singles. The closest match was at five singles where Jamie Rigby won 6-2, 6-4. Schaaf and Pobst won a tough match at one doubles, winning 9-7, and Lam and Ryan Burgdorfer won another close match at two doubles, winning 8-6. The three doubles team of Hantack and Rigby won 8-3 to record their third conference doubles win in three matches.

The Rivermen will have a big weekend coming up, as they travel to play at Southern Indiana on Friday at at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, needing two wins to qualify for the GLVC Tournament.
