UMSL Loses at St. Louis University

Rivermen Fall 6-1 to Division I Foe

St. Louis, Mo. – The UMSL men’s tennis team stepped up the level of competition for a day, playing at Division I St. Louis University, but came up short against the Billikens, losing 6-1.

The Rivermen lost all three doubles matches, but were close in each match, losing 8-5 at one doubles and 8-4 at both two and three doubles. The singles matches were tight as well, with UMSL getting its lone point at two singles where Mike Schaaf (St. Louis, Mo./Francis Howell) picked up a 4-6, 7-6, 5-0 victory. Rajan Saini (Victoria, British Columbia) lost a tough three set match at four singles, falling 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. ) Ryan Burgdorfer (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) also went to three sets before losing by a 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 score.

UMSL will play this Friday at Maryville before returning to conference play next weekend.
