UMSL Tennis Nets Gyllenborg Career Win #100 Rivermen Beat Saint Joesph's for Milestone Coaching Win Rensselaer, Ind. - The Missouri St. Louis men’s tennis team defeated Saint Joseph’s College 5-0 on Saturday morning, netting UMSL head coach Rick Gyllenborg his 100th career coaching win, all coming as the head coach for the Rivermen. The Rivermen swept all three doubles matches, winning easily at one and three doubles. Mike Schaaf (St. Louis, Mo./Francis Howell) and Stephen Pobst (Sikeston, Mo./Sikeston) got the 8-1 victory at one doubles and Max Bugner (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) and Ryan Burgdorfer (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) won 8-3 at three doubles. Francis Lam (Kettering, England) and Rajan Saini (Victoria, British Columbia) had a tougher time at two doubles, but pulled out the 8-5 win. Francis Lam then registered an easy 6-2, 6-2 win at one singles and Stephen Pobst closed it out with a 6-3, 6-0 win at three singles. In the afternoon match, UMSL made it career win 101 with a 6-0 victory over Lewis. UMSL again won all three doubles matches, getting an 8-0 win at one doubles, an 8-4 win at two doubles and an 8-1 win at three doubles. coach Rick Gyllenborg picked up his 100th
career win in his 10th season as head coach at UMSL. He has recorded
over 10 wins in six seasons and has five straight winning seasons. In
his career, he guided UMSL to its first ever appearance in the NCAA
Regionals in 2002, and made a return trip in 2003. Gyllenborg
has coached a total of 14 all-conference players, including two, GLVC
Freshman of the Year winners, and 20 academic all-conference selections,
which includes a GLVC Scholar Athlete of the Year award winner. Missouri-St.
