UMSL Serves Up Close Win

Rivermen Win Final Match to Beat McKendree

Lebanon, Ill. - The Missouri St. Louis men’s tennis team won a close 5-4 match over McKendree College, getting a three set win from Francis Lam (Kettering, England) at one singles for the match winning point.

UMSL won two of the three doubles matches, getting an 8-4 win at one doubles and an easy 8-1 win at three doubles for the early advantage. Ryan Burgdorfer (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) got a decisive 6-1, 6-2 win at four singles in his second straight win at the four singles spot and Rajan Saini (Victoria, British Columbia) got a 6-1, 6-1 win at six singles. Francis Lam then came through with a big win at one singles to secure the match for the Rivermen, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

The Rivermen are now 7-4 on the season and will be at home this weekend with matches on Thursday at Friday at 3pm, and Saturday morning at 9 am.
