Vaulkhard Ties School Record in UMSL Win Rivermen Cruise Past Saint Joseph's St. Louis, Mo. – The UMSL men's tennis team cruised to an easy 5-0 win over Saint Joseph's on Saturday, and in the process, senior Matt Vaulkhard (Victoria, British Columbia) tied the school record for most career singles wins. Vaulkhard won at one singles 7-5, 6-0, giving him 50 career singles wins during his four years at UMSL, which ties the mark set by UMSL Sports Hall of Famer Tom January, a record which has stood for 30 years. Other winners in the match for UMSL were Francis Lam (Kettering, England), who won 6-1, 6-3 at three singles, Raj Saini (Victoria, British Columbia) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at four singles, Stephen Pobst (Sikeston, Mo./Sikeston) won with an identical 6-1, 6-0 score at five singles, and Max Bugner (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) won 6-3, 6-1 at six singles. The Rivermen will be in action again on Tuesday, when they play at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., at 3 pm. Vaulkhard will be looking for career singles win number 51 in that match before the team heads to the GLVC Tournament over the weekend.
