UMSL Cruises Past SIUE

Rivermen Win 8-1 in Conference Match

St. Louis, Mo. – The UMSL men’s tennis team defeated SIUE 8-1 in a conference match on Tuesday afternoon, winning all three doubles matches to start the match and take control early.

UMSL battled through the doubles matches, getting a close 9-7 win at one doubles from Matt Vaulkhard (Victoria, British Columbia) and James Daugherty (White Settlement, Texas/Brewer). Raj Saini (Victoria, British Columbia) and Francis Lam (Kettering, England) then got a close 9-8 (1) win at two doubles. UMSL then got a couple of easy wins in singles matches, as Vaulkhard won 6-1, 6-0 at one singles, Lam was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at three singles and Saini got a 6-0, 6-0 win at four singles.

UMSL is now 5-5 on the season and 1-2 in the GLVC. The Rivermen will be in action again at home this weekend when they host Indianapolis on Saturday morning at 9 am, and the host Saint Joseph’s Saturday afternoon at 3 pm.
