| Smith Scores Three Goals to Lead UMSL to Two Wins to Open the Season The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team opened their season with two straight road wins, winning 3-2 at Lyon College on Friday and winning 2-0 at Harding on Sunday. Jared Smith led the way for the Rivermen, scoring three times in the two games to open the season. Against Lyon, UMSL fell behind 2-0 in the first half before staging a comeback. Jared Smith scored late in the first half to make it a 2-1 deficit at halftime. Smith then tied the game with a goal in the second half and Ryan South scored the game-winning goal in the 3-2 victory. On Sunday scored twice in the second half, getting a goal from Jared Smith off a penalty kick in the 55th minute and Paul Hummel added another goal in the 73rd minute to give UMSL the 2-0 win. Goalkeeper Zach Hoette recorded five saves in the game for the shutout. UMSL is 2-0 on the season and will open their home schedule on Friday when they host Quincy University at 5 pm.
