UMSL Falls 2-1 to McKendree

St. Louis, Mo. – In the final regular season game before heading to the GLVC Tournament, the UMSL men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 game to McKendree on Wednesday night.

It was a scoreless first half as both teams fought to get warmed up in the cold autumn evening. Midway through the second half, McKendree caught a break and got a penalty kick, but UMSL goalkeeper Mike Bober (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) made a tremendous save on the attempt to keep it deadlocked at a scoreless tie. Just a few minutes later, UMSL got on the board as Blair Spencer (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) scored in the 70th minute to give the Rivermen a 1-0 lead. McKendree would tie the game three minutes later and the Bearcats then got the game-winning goal with just under two minutes left in the game for the 2-1 win.

UMSL falls to 9-6-2 on the season and will be in action this weekend when they play at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday night at 6:30 pm, in the first round of the GLVC Tournament.
