Huber Scores Game Winner Over 13th Ranked Lewis

St. Louis, Mo. – UMSL’s Colin Huber (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) scored for the second straight game, including a game-winner on Sunday afternoon to give the Rivermen a 1-0 win over 13th-ranked Lewis University.

Both teams played a tough first half, with neither side getting any solid looks at the net. Lewis had more shot in the opening half, but goalkeeper Zach Hoette (Florissant, Mo./Rosary) made two saves in the first half and kept it a scoreless game at halftime. In the second half, UMSL finally broke through with a goal in the 53rd minute. Colin Huber broke free down the left side of the field, then beat the last defender around the corner and shot past the keeper for the goal to give UMSL the 1-0 win. Goalkeeper Zach Hoette made two more saves in the second half, recording four in the game, to preserve the shutout in the win.

UMSL is now 5-3-1 on the season and improves to 2-3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rivermen will be on the road next weekend when they travel to play at Rockhurst and at Drury.
