| Huber Scores Overtime Winner for UMSL St. Louis, Mo. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team needed overtime to defeat Kentucky Wesleyan, but did not need much of it, scoring just 13 seconds into the first overtime period for a 1-0 win over the Panthers. Neither team could find the net in the first half, as the teams combined for 13 shots with UMSL getting nine shots in the half. UMSL again outshot KWC in the second half, 8-2, missing a couple of close shots that were saved by the Panthers goalkeeper. At the end of regulation, both teams were tied 0-0, although UMSL had more shots at 17-6. In the first overtime period, UMSL wasted no time getting on the board. On the opening possession, Jared Smith (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) took the ball and sent a pass to Colin Huber (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) who scored with 9:47 left in the first, ten-minute overtime period for the 1-0 win. UMSL goalkeeper Zach Hoette (Florissant, Mo./Rosary) recorded three saves for his eighth shutout of the season. UMSL
improves to 8-4-2 overall on the season and is now 5-4-2 in the Great
Lakes Valley Conference. The Rivermen will be on the road next weekend
when they travel to play at Indianapolis on Friday, October 13.
