UMSL to Face SIUE in GLVC Tournament First Round

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team will face SIU Edwardsville in the first round of the GLVC Men’s Soccer Tournament. The game will be played on Saturday, October 21, at 6:30 pm, at Korte Stadium on the SIUE campus. Live online stats will be made available for the game, with a link available at www.umsl-sports.com on the day of the game.

UMSL qualified for the conference tournament after a 1-0 win at Saint Joseph’s in the final conference game of the season. Colin Huber scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute and goalkeeper Zach Hoette recorded his ninth shutout of the season in the win. UMSL finished the conference season with a 6-5-2 record in the GLVC, edging out Drury University by a half game for the eighth seed in the conference tournament. The Rivermen will travel for their first round game and play at 8th-ranked SIUE who earned the top seed in the conference tournament.

This marks the seventh trip to the conference tournament for UMSL since joining the GLVC in the 1996-97 school year. UMSL holds a 5-6 all-time record in conference tournament play, and advanced to the championship game in both the 1998 and 1999 seasons. This is the third trip to the conference tournament under head coach Dan King, who led the Rivermen to the GLVC tournament in the 2002 and 2003 seasons. UMSL has never faced SIUE in the GLVC tournament, but has an 11-21-2 overall record in the series with the Cougars, and is 3-8 against SIUE since joining the GLVC.
