Hoette, Huber Earn All-Conference Honors

St. Louis, Mo. – University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer players Zach Hoette (Florissant, Mo./Rosary) and Colin Huber (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) were both named Second Team All-Conference selections by the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Hoette has started in all 16 game as the goalkeeper for the Rivermen this season, playing over 1,470 minutes. He has allowed just 14 goals this year for a goals against average of 0.86, which ranks sixth in the conference. Hoette recorded nine shutouts on the year which led the GLVC and is the third best single season total in UMSL history. He has 67 saves this year and ranks fifth in the UMSL career list for most saves with 222. He is fifth this year in the GLVC in saves per game with 4.19 per game.

Huber has started in all 16 games at the forward position for UMSL, and is second on the team with five goals and a total of ten points. Of his five goals, four have been game-winning goals, with all four coming in conference games. His only goal that was not a game winner came against nationally ranked Wisconsin-Parkside and helped give UMSL a 1-1 tie in that game. Huber scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over then 13th-ranked Lewis and also netted the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Saint Jospeh’s that helped clinch a bid to the GLVC Tournament for the Rivermen.

This mark the first time since the 2002 season that UMSL has had more than one player earn all-conference honors, and it is the fifth and sixth players to earn All-GLVC honors under Coach King in his sixth season. UMSL has now had 13 players earn All-GLVC honors since joining the conference in the 1996 season.

UMSL is 9-5-2 this season and will play their final regular season game this evening against McKendree at home beginning at 7 pm. The Rivermen will then travel to play at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, October 21, at 6:30 pm, in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
