Drezek, Walters, Smith Notch Two Goals Each UMSL Cruises Past Upper Iowa 7-0 St. Louis, Mo. – In the final home game of the season, the UMSL men’s soccer team defeated Upper Iowa 7-0. Seniors Doug Drezek (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) and David Walters (St. Louis, Mo./Ritenour) went out in style, scoring two goals each in the win. David Walters got the scoring started with a goal off an assist from senior Matt Andersen (St. Louis, Mo./Northwest), who tallied three assists on the night. Doug Drezek then scored back-to-back goals in less than five minutes to put UMSL up 3-0. Jared Smith (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) added a goal late in the half to give the Rivermen a 4-0 halftime advantage. Walters got his second goal of the game early in the second half and Smith followed with his second of the game in the 67th minutes. Colin Huber (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summitt) capped off the scoring barrage with a goal in the 73rd minute as UMSL cruised to a 7-0 win. UMSL
is now 4-6-3 on the season and will be on the road Sunday when they
play at Truman State.
