UMSL Gets First Win of the Season Goals by Jujic, Bimslager Pace Rivermen St. Louis, Mo. – The Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team notched their first win of the season, getting a 2-0 shutout victory over Benedictine College. Alen Jujic (St. Louis, Mo./Affton) scored the go-ahead goal in the first half and Adam Bimslager (Florissant, Mo./St. Thomas Aquinas) added an insurance goal later in the half for the win. UMSL got on the board in the first half when Alen Jujic took a pass from David Walters (St. Louis, Mo./Ritenour) down the left side and dribbled to the middle of the box for a shot from 10-yards out for the goal and a 1-0 UMSL lead in the 15th minute. In the 29th minute, UMSL would add to their lead as the Ravens goalie blocked a bicycle kick attempt, but UMSL’s Adam Bimslager was there for the put back to notch his first goal of the season and give the Rivermen a 2-0 lead at halftime. UMSL goalkeeper Zach Hoette (Florissant, Mo./Rosary) guided the UMSL defense that limited Benedictine to just three shots on goal for the entire game, and recorded his first shutout of the season. The
Rivermen picked up their first win of the season and are now 1-3 on
the year. UMSL will be in action again on Wednesday night when they
host Missouri-Rolla at 7 pm.
