Sonoma State Rolls Past Rivermen UMSL Falls to 2002 National Champions Rohnert Park, Calif. – The UMSL men's soccer team faced one of the better teams in the nation on Sunday, playing at 2002 National Champion Sonoma State, and lost a crushing match 7-1 to the Seawolves. The first half was a tight contest, as Sonoma State led by one, 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Seawolves exploded with six goals to push their way to victory. Sonoma State opened the second half with four goals, including three from Tim Maycock, before the Rivermen got on the board. David Walters (St. Louis, Mo./Ritenour) got UMSL on the board with his second goal in as many games in the 69th minute before Sonoma State added two more for the 7-1 victory. The Rivermen will face stronger competition this week on Wednesday when they play at St. Louis University at 7 pm. The Billikins were ranked fourth in the nation at the Division I level.
