UMSL Falls in Double Overtime

Rivermen Lost 1-0 to Southern Indiana


Evansville, Ind. – The Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team dropped their final regular season game on Saturday, falling to Southern Indiana 1-0 in double overtime.

Neither team could score during regulation. Southern Indiana had 18 total shots, including 14 in regulation, and UMSL had nine total shots, including six in regulation. UMSL goalkeeper Campbell McLaurin (Jackson, Miss./Jackson Prep) recorded 12 total saves in the game, yielding just the one goal in the second overtime period. It was the second straight game McLaurin had recorded double digits saves in a game. The game winner came in the second overtime period, as Matt Settles scored an unassisted goal at the 104:39 mark for the 1-0 win for Southern Indiana.

The Rivermen finish the regular season with a 6-12-1 overall record and a 4-5-1 record in the GLVC. UMSL finishes the regular season as the sixth seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament. UMSL will play at either Lewis or Southern Indiana, depending on outcomes of games later on Saturday, in the first round of the tournament on November 2. This is the second straight year Coach King has guided the Rivermen to the GLVC Tournament in his three seasons as head coach.
