UMSL Posts Win over McKendree

Walters Scores Goal in 1-0 Victory

Lebanon, Ill. – The UMSL men's soccer team got a second half goal and then held on the a 1-0 shutout victory over McKendree College on Teusday night.

The Rivermen got on board early in the second half when David Walters (St. Louis, Mo./Ritenour) rebounded a shot that came off the post and took control of the ball and shot it back into the net for a 1-0 UMSL lead. McKendree would continue to battle, and had a chance to score on a free kick but goalkeeper Campbell McLaurin (Jackson, Miss./Jackson Prep) made the save and record the shutout in the UMSL win.

The Rivermen improve to 2-3 on the season with the win and will open up conference action this weekend at home. UMSL will host Lewis on Friday night at 7 pm and then host SIU Edwardsville on Sunday at 2:30 pm.
