Rivermen are defeated 1-0

St. Louis, Mo. – University of Missouri-St. Louis went head to head at home today against conference foe Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

The Rivermen took an early possession in which they were able to put a couple of shots on goal, but none broke through the Cougar defense. The Cougars then came on strong controlling the rest of the half. UMSL defense held strong, however, preventing the Cougars from scoring. At the half, the score was tied 0-0.

The second half was looking much like the first until Addae Rique was able to dump one into the corner off a pass from John Matthews from the top of the box. The Rivermen fought hard, but was unable to capitalized as the Cougars won 1-0.

The Rivermen will take the pitch in St. Joseph’s on Friday, September 26 at 7:30.
