UMSL men's soccer team loses 3-1 to UM-Rolla

ST. LOUIS, MO – The UMSL men's soccer team lost their season opener to the University of Missouri-Rolla 3-1 on Friday night. All four goals of the game were scored in the first half.

The first goal of the game was at the 19 minute mark, when UM-Rolla's Ryan Coates received and scored on a deflection off UMSL's goalie. The Miners attacked and scored again with 32:50 on the clock when UM-Rolla's Andy Becker received an assist from teammate Sebastian Bustamante. Bustamante then scored the third goal just five minutes later on a another deflection off the goalie.

UMSL responded one minute later when Allen Jujic (St. Louis, Mo./Afton High School) scored in the lower left corner on an UMSL indirect kick. Both teams had 13 shots and UMSL's Campbell McLaurin (Jackson, Miss./Jackson Preparatory) had three saves.

The UMSL soccer team will host Lindenwood on Wednesday, September 4, at 7 pm.
