| Rivermen Display Shooting Spree UMSL Beats Kentucky Wesleyan 8-0 ST. LOUIS, MO – The UMSL men's soccer team come back from a 3-0 loss to Bellarmine and mark a win against conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan, winning 8-0. This win puts UMSL at 3-3 overall and 2-1 in GLVC action. The Rivermen scored the first goal of the game after only 2 minutes had passed. Several shots were made and deflected in the box before Pat Shelton (St. Ann, Mo./St. Thomas Aquinas) turned and hit the net 5 yards out to put give the Rivermen a 1-0 lead. Jeff Stegman (St. Louis, Mo./Vianny) would strike next with 10:20 on the clock on a deflection off the post from teammate Jeff Menke (St. Louis, Mo./Rosary). The final goal of the second half came at the 11:55 mark, when Nick Carron (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) headed the ball towards Adam Bimslager (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North), passed the ball to teammate Jeff Stegman, who then found the net for his second goal of the afternoon and the 3-0 lead. UMSL would continue to find the net five more times in the second half. Jeff Menke would score his first collegiate goal in the 47th minute off an assist from Nick Carron. Stegman then marked a hat trick with his third goal of the game at the 51st minute on a penalty kick. Dave Seckman (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) added to the score when Jim Reiter (Troy, Mo./Troy Buchanan) passed the ball to the outside and Seckman hit the net 10 yards out. Jim Reiter then scored an unassisted goal, which marks his second goal of the season. The final goal of the game with 6:54 remaining, when David Walters (St. Louis, Mo./Ritenour) hit the net from 7 yards out. UMSL beat the Panthers 8-0. The UMSL soccer team will host Southern Indiana for Greek Night this Friday, October 4 at 5 pm.
