| UMSL Wins, Finishes Second in GLVC Rivermen Record Highest Ever Finish in GLVC ST. LOUIS, MO. – The UMSL men's soccer team notched a 3-2 win over Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon, and in doing so locked up a second place finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, marking the highest finish for the Rivermen since joining the GLVC. UMSL finishes with a 7-2-1 conference record, a half game behind Lewis, who finished the conference season at 8-2. UMSL got on the board first, scoring off a corner kick. Jim Reiter (Troy, Mo./Troy Buchanan) took the corner kick and sent the ball to the middle of the box where Jeff Menke (St. Louis, Mo./Rosary) knocked it past the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Saint Joseph's came back a few minutes later to tie the game as Justin Fox broke away from the defenders on the left side and scored at the 9:25 mark. The Rivermen came back and took the lead later in the half as Allen Jujic (St. Louis, Mo./Afton) took a deflection in the middle of the field and drove down for a one-on-one and shot it past the goalie at the 14:49 mark for a 2-1 lead. In the second half, UMSL added to the lead at the 56:51 mark when Adam Bimslager (Florissant, Mo./St. Thomas Aqaunis) passed to Jim Reiter down the left side and Reiter found the back of the net for a 3-1 lead. Saint Joseph's would cut into the lead with another goal from Justin Fox to make it a 3-2 final score. UMSL will play two non-conference games in preparation for the upcoming GLVC Tournament. The Rivermen will be the second seed in the tournament and will host a first round game on Wednesday, November 6.
