UMSL Finishes 7th at Rivermen Invitational

Archibald Places 13th with Season Best Tournament Score

O'Fallon, Mo.– The UMSL men's golf team finished in seventh place at the 2005 Rivermen Invitational, held at WingHaven Country Club in O'Fallon, Mo.

The Rivermen shot a 312 in the second round, after a season best 301 in the opening round on Sunday for a tournament score of 613. UMSL was just five strokes behind sixth-place Lewis University and 14 strokes out of third place. Grand Valley State was the team champion with a two-round score of 588, while Adam Lebahn of Rockhurst and Jason Buffone of Lewis each shot 144 to tie for individual medalist honors.

Individually, UMSL's David Archibald had his best tournament score of the year, shooting a season best 73 in the opening round and followed that with a 76 in the second round for a two-round score of 149. Diego Jimenez shot 150 (74-76) to place 16th in the tournament, and Michael Lueders shots 154 (75-79) to tie for 24th place. Marcus Deckert (82-81) and Eric Fakes (79-84) both shot identical scores of 163 to tie for 49th place.

UMSL will travel next week to play at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
